“red bag”...story “nam-un”...photo

There was a little woman's dream who had a dream of having her own house. She imagined it with glasses all around so she would never lose sight of all the good sceneries no matter where she was inside the house. When that little woman grew up, she got married and settled down with a family. Many things had changed except her fantasy. It remained a fantasy up until 3 years ago, when she finally brought it into the real world. Since then, the house has stood quietly at the edge of the plots in Maechaem District, Chiangmai. Moreover, it has provided accommodations and comfort for us travelers.

Huan Ram Chaem Muang is both a house and a B&B, and belongs to Mrs.Penkae and Mr.Supachai Khattiyasurin. The house is very outstanding with fine carpentry. Anyone heading to Maechaem by Mount Inthanon or Hod District route will notice it first before they enter the town. Many will think to themselves that this is exactly like what they have dreamt of. "I told the architect that I wanted a Lanna style, but that it should be a practical one", said Mrs.Penkae with her eyes sparkling. She continued, "I really enjoy traveling but I've never had enough chances to, so I decided to set this up for travelers and I really wanted to make it feel like home". Lodging area was expanded from the main house because of the space limitation. That's why there are only 4 rooms available. The architect designed the split level to make the area less incommodious and more practical. When you walk passed the front garden, take your shoes off and feel your steps up the wooden staircase to the main house. This will allow you to absorb the pleasurable surroundings.

A spacious terrace has many relaxing corners; you can sit wherever you like and have a good view of mountains and fields. Actually this is an informal guest area; you could say it's the "living room" which is wide open for fresh air, and decorated with stylish adornments including cute table sets and daybeds.
Some furnitures are antiques which the owner has been collecting since when she was still living in a tenement house. And all throughout, these things were just kept in a storeroom.

"I dream of having a house because I want to decorate it myself. I always bought these ornaments and kept them wrapped all those years because I never knew when I was going to have a home," Mrs.Penkae laughed and continued, "it’s usually very nice in the morning, you know, the fog is floating there while you're having your breakfast." Interestingly, she would be very happy if most of the guests would spend their day on the premises rather than going out and then coming back just to sleep. |

The front terrace leads to the four sleeping rooms, where they stand side by side. The first room is the largest with a queen size bed, and the rest of them are twins with different styles; four-poster beds, low stands, and base on the floor. Every room is adorned with simple style in line with a wood and earth tone. The only thing that brightens them up is the vividness of the coverlets that make the rooms look not so dull. There are no pictures on the wall nor any peddling to make these rooms feel strained. The windows are padded with big glasses to blend inside and outside atmosphere as one. Facilities and modern amenities are available; such as air-conditioners and an instant water heaters. Though the bathrooms are quite small, they are very neat and clean. |
| When present at this place, people may somehow realize that it's where they can live their dreams and make them come true… Just like everyone else at Huan Ram Chaem Muang did; the maid, gardener and two owners…...who are now experiencing such happiness. |
